Brief Profile

Lukman Y. Salifu, a corporate member of the Ghana Institution of Engineers, has over 22+ years’ experience in the water and environmental sanitation sector and is the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of WasteCare Associates since 2003. In the capacity of the Team Leader/Project Manager, he has supervised many assignments/projects undertaken by WasteCare and other Joint Venture Partners including: Preparation of national Environmental Sanitation Policy (Revised 2010), the National Environmental Sanitation Strategy and Action Plan (NESSAP) and accompanying Strategic Environmental Sanitation Investment Plan (SESIP) to guide the incremental but rapid progress of services; Preparing Concept Paper for the Establishment of EHSD in MLGRD; Preparation (principal author) of SEA Practical Guide for Water and Environmental sanitation Sector including Training Modules for sector training and facilitating Training of Trainers (ToT) workshop; Drafting of consolidated National Water Policy and Preparation of World Bank sponsored-Phase II of Second Community Water and Sanitation Project, Small Towns Water and Sanitation Project. He has worked as staff of the World Bank’s Water and Sanitation Program -Africa, during which he worked on various projects across eastern and southern Africa including Urban & Rural Water and Sanitation Programs (Rwanda) and Urban Large & Small Towns and, Rural Water and Sanitation Programs (Uganda), as well as Water and Sanitation programmes in Ethiopia and Eritrea.
